How Smoking Is Dangerous?

Statistics tells that tobacco steals approximately seven precious lives every minute of every day of the year, worldwide. Smoking is very compelling because of the influence of nicotine. Nicotine is a stimulant that causes a temporary increase in alertness and calmness.  Thus it is incredibly addictive.  It has observed that nicotine is more addictive than drugs like heroin or cocaine. 

Cigarette smoke causes so much damage to your bodies. Though nicotine itself is not carcinogenic the highly addictive drugs are toxic.  Along with nicotine lethal is there in large doses. Tobacco smoke contains dangerous metals such as arsenic, lead and cadmium which are known to cause cancer. Smokers have a much higher risk of developing of life threatening diseases. These diseases can be any cancer such as that of bladder, bone marrow, cervix, esophagus, kidney, lung, liver, lip, mouth, nose, nasal sinus , pancreas , stomach , tongue,  throat and of voice box.

Heart disease like coronary artery disease and heart attack are very common in smokers. Smoking not only affects the heart but every part of your circulatory system. Nicotine constricts the blood vessels which in turn causes high blood pressure.  It increases your heart rate which puts an extra stress on your heart. The lining of the blood vessels get damaged. This allows more fat deposits that is a significant cause of arteriosclerosis which hardens the arteries.

The inhaled smoke pours many harmful components like carbon monoxide, free radicals, hydrogen cyanide, heavy metals and tar. Tar is a sticky and brown component contains many chemicals that are carcinogenic.  It stains fingernails, teeth and lung tissue. Hydrogen cyanide a component present in smoke prevents the lungs from cleaning themselves of poisonous chemicals. Cilia are the tiny hairs that help to clean the lungs and move away foreign substances get damaged by smoking. These harmful chemicals prevent oxygenation of the blood.

Decrease circulations due to smoking may causes impotence to male smokers.  A smoker always takes more time to recover from infections than a non-smoker. The smoker is more vulnerable to minor infections because of impaired immune systems. The kidneys get damaged due to high blood pressure caused by smoking. Smoking leads to increased stomach acid secretion that causes ulcers and heartburn.

Cigarette smoking decreases bone density that promotes osteoporosis. Skin loses its elasticity and becomes dry. Inflammation and Irritation of the intestines and stomach are commonly occurring problems of smokers.

Almost all the organs of your body get adversely affected by smoking.
